Thanh made the request during a field trip to Thai Binh province where he worked with officials from relevant provinces on the preparations for the construction of the Ninh Binh - Hai Phong expressway.
He underscored the importance of the Ninh Binh - Hai Phong expressway that will serve as a corridor to connect these localities with airports and seaports and to create new momentum to develop the southern part of Ha Noi capital, the Red river delta and the north central region.
He also asked the related localities to set out specific and feasible progress landmarks, and complete preparations so as to start the project right in 2022.
The Ninh Binh - Hai Phong expressway will run through the provinces of Ninh Binh, Nam Dinh and Thai Binh, and Hai Phong city. It is expected to be implemented under the form of public-private partnership (PPP) and under a build-operate-transfer (BOT) contract.
The expressway has a total length of around 80 kilometers, including 18 kilometers in Ninh Binh, 32.7 kilometers in Thai Binh and 28.7 km in Nam Dinh before reaching Hai Phong city.
The project is estimated to cost 12.5 trillion VND (533.73 million USD), including 8 trillion VND (185 million USD) sourced from the central state budget, 1.5 trillion VND (34,8 million USD) from the local budgets and other legal capital sources, and 3 trillion VND (696 million USD) from investors.
