Ngày 5-3, tại hội trường Quốc hội Lào, Thủ đô Vientiane, Ủy ban Bầu cử quốc gia Lào họp báo công bố kết quả bầu cử Quốc hội Lào khóa IX và Hội đồng nhân dân tỉnh khóa II. Thay mặt Ủy ban Bầu cử quốc gia Lào, TS Somphu Duongsavan, Người phát ngôn Ủy ban Bầu cử quốc gia Lào cho biết, bầu cử Quốc hội Lào khóa IX và Hội đồng nhân dân tỉnh khóa II đã thành công tốt đẹp.

Các cử tri tới bỏ phiếu chọn ra 164 đại biểu Quốc hội khóa IX trong số 224 ứng cử viên và 492 đại biểu Hội đồng nhân dân cấp tỉnh và thủ đô Vientiane trong số 789 ứng cử viên.
