The northern province of Ninh Binh has built and developed OCOP products through incorporating cultural values in each product, thereby adding more resources for rural economic growth.

Ninh Binh province is endowed with rich historical and cultural values as the former capital of Vietnam in the 10th and 11th centuries. These values have now been integrated into signature local products within the "One commune - One product" (OCOP) programme.

Many businesses, cooperatives and individuals in Ninh Binh province have put OCOP products for sale on e-commerce platforms.

The implementation of the OCOP programme in the past five years has helped Ninh Binh open up opportunities to develop production and increase values for local products, thereby contributing to the effective performance of the national target programmes on new-style rural areas.

The provincial OCOP council of Ninh Binh province convened a meeting on December 15 to evaluate and classify OCOP products in the second round of 2022.

Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan said that the development of the 'One Commune - One Product' (OCOP) programme needs to be selective, which can create a difference and associate with local features.

In a bid to implement effectively the "One Commune One Product" programme in Ninh Binh province in the period of 2022-2025 associated with sustainably building new-style rural areas, local organisations, business households and localities have stepped up the development of OCOP products in parallel with restructuring the agriculture sector, enhancing the effectiveness of production and business models, creating jobs and increasing incomes for rural people.

The northern province of Ninh Binh has verified, rated, and recognised 14 local products as "One Commune, One Product (OCOP)" goods this year, according to the Deparment of Rural Development.

Agricultural specialties and products under the "One Commune - One Product" (OCOP) programmefrom the northern province of Ninh Binh are being showcased at the Vietnam Agriculture Promotion and Exhibition Centre in Hanoi.

Ninh Binh had 12 products qualified for standards of One Commune-One Product (OCOP) program in 2019.
