Traditional craft villages play an important role in the economic development of the rural areas. Facts have shown that craft villages have not only created many job opportunities, not only for people of working age but also for the elderly, people with disabilities, and children but also helped to narrow the gap between rich and poor in rural areas.
Ninh Binh province currently has 63 craft villages which specialise in processing agro-forestry-aquatic products and producing handicrafts. Most of the craft villages are operating stably, creating jobs and increasing incomes for rural people.
