In 2020, Ninh Binh's tourism sector saw a sharp decline in both the number of tourist arrivals and tourism turnover due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Last year, the province welcomed only 2.8 million visitors and earned nearly 1.6 trillion VND (69.4 million USD).
This year, Ninh Binh is continuing to pay heed to tourism infrastructure to serve the National Tourism Year 2021 and to welcome more visitors after the COVID-19 pandemic is controlled.
Investment will be poured into key tourism destinations like Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex, Hoa Lu ancient capital, Dinh Tien Hoang Square.
The province has carried out a wide range of solutions to attract more investment, such as stepping up the advertisement of local tourism potential; provide information about incentives and policies on tourism development.
It has also increased the publication of tourism advertisement and tourist brochures and expanded tourism markets at international and domestic festivals and trade fairs.
Promoting tourism on the internet and social network platforms are boosted, serving the need of guests.
Besides, travel agencies has developed new tourism activities and products like kayak and helicopter service in the Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex, walking street, agricultural tourism tours, and handicraft village tours.
As for human resources, the Department of Tourism has coordinated with the Hanoi College of Tourism to organise training courses for those who working in the province's tourism industry.
Thanks to these above efforts, Ninh Binh has attracted more investment into tourism infrastructure. As a result, there are 678 accommodation establishments with 8,198 rooms, including 40 1-4 star hotels.
In order to turn tourism into a spearhead economic sector, the province needs to actively implement the tourism stimulus programme and strengthen domestic and international tourism development cooperation.
The province will also coordinate with the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, travel agencies, television stations and prestigious travel magazines to promote its tourism potential.
Ninh Binh will also work with relevant units and agencies in organising the National Tourism Year 2021, creating a new image and facelift for the provincial tourism industry, striving to develop tourism into a spearhead economic sector by 2030 and contributing to the province's socio-economic development.
