Yen Mo district in the northern province of Ninh Binh has received the Prime Minister's decision recognising that the locality has completed all criteria of the new-style rural area building programme and a third-class Labour Order.
Yen Mo district gets new-style rural area status
Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan attended the decision announcement ceremony on November 28, which also saw the attendance of leaders from ministries, agencies, sectors, and Ninh Binh province.
After nine years of implementing the new-style rural area building programme, all 16 communes of Yen Mo district have completed all criteria, which helped change the rural face and improve people's spiritual and material lives. Yen Tu and Yen Hoa communes were recognised as model new-style rural areas.
So far, Yen Mo district has mobilised nearly 5.1 trillion VND, of which local residents contributed over 2.2 trillion VND to complete the programme.
By the end of 2020, per capital income of local people in the district reached 51 million VND, an increase of 37 million VND compared to that of 2010. The poverty rate in Yen Mo fell to just 0.75 percent.
At the event, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan handed over to Yen Mo leaders the PM's decision recognising that the district has completed all criteria of the new-style rural area building programme and a third-class Labour Order.
She also presented a picture of Uncle Ho to encourage the district's Party Organisation and people continue stepping up the studying and following President Ho Chi Minh's thought, morality and style, striving to build a modern and prosperous homeland.
On the occasion, Secretary of the Ninh Binh provincial Party Committee presented flowers and 3 billion VND to the district.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Pham Quang Ngoc lauded the district's Party Organisation, administration and people for their proud achievements.
He also asked the district's Party Organisation, administration and people to finalise the master plan of the district, especially orientations, development plans for each region, locality.
Yen Mo authorities were requested to mobilise all resources to build socio-economic infrastructure in line with that of the province, while continuing to conduct more effective rural activities and pay more attention to remote and mountainous localities.
Ngoc expected that Yen Mo will strive to have at least 50 percent of its communes to fulfill the model and advanced rural standards by 2025, towards becoming an advanced, model district.
