Wood exports likely to hit USD5.5 billion in 2013

Vietnam's wood export turnover may reach USD5.5 billion with a growth rate of 10-15 percent in 2013, according to the Vietnam Timber and Forest Product Association.
In September, the country's processing of wood and wood products reported a high export turnover of USD3.83 billion, a 13.8 percent rise from the same month last year, said the Association.
Vietnam's traditional export markets with growth in comparison to the same period last year were the Republic of Korea (up 49 percent), Japan (20.3 percent), China (17.1 percent) and the US (7.8 percent). Only the German and French markets witnessed reductions.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development reported that the wood and wood product market showed satisfactory signs. As of August 2013, the number of orders for wood traders rose sharply year-on-year.
