As storm Damrey has inflicted serious losses in human lives and property in south-central and Central Highlands localities, on November 5th, the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) decided to assist storm affected people with VND3 billion.
In particular, Khanh Hoa province will be assisted with VND1 billion, Phu Yen province with VND500 million, Binh Dinh province with VND500 million, Dak Lak province with VND500 million and Quang Ngai province with VND500 million. They money aims to support the families of dead or missing victims of the storm (VND5 million each), those who were seriously injured (VND3 million each) and those whose houses were destroyed.
The VFF has also sent 2 delegations to conduct rescue work in storm affected areas in Khanh Hoa and Binh Dinh provinces on November 6th-7th.
The delegations have brought with cash and goods, including VND750 million, 600 water refinery devices, 100 sets of tools for repairing houses, and 2 packages of decontamination tablets.
Individuals have been called on to donate money to support storm stricken people in a message program launched by the Vietnam Red Cross in collaboration with the national humanitarian portal until November 8th. Accordingly, each text message with the content UH sent to 1409 will contribute VND20,000 to the program. All money will be used to support essential goods, housing and livelihood to help storm affected people stabilise their lives.
As of November 5th, the program collected over 113,300 messages, or over VND2.2 billion.
