The country gained the highest rate of votes (184 out of 192) among 14 countries running for the membership of the UN's highest human rights body. Other countries include France, Britain, Russia, China, South Africa, Algeria, Morocco, Namibia, Maldives, Macedonia, and Mexico.
As a member of the council, Viet Nam pledges to make practical contribution to the protection and promotion of human rights values on global scale and has opportunities to share experience from international friends in this field.
