Vietnam qualify for FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship for first time

The International Volleyball Federation FIVB confirmed on August 30 that the Vietnamese women's volleyball team is one of 32 teams which will participate in the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship.

The tournament is scheduled to be held in Thailand from August 22 to September 7, 2025.

The upcoming World Championship will be expanded to include 32 teams, increasing from the previous figure of 24 teams. The tournament will henceforth also be held biennially instead of quadrennially.

The host country of Thailand automatically qualified for the competition, as well as the defending champions Serbia. The top three teams from each of the 2023 Continental Championships secured qualification.

In the pool phase, the 32 teams will spread across eight pools of four teams playing in a round-robin system. The top two teams from each pool then advance to the direct elimination phase.

In the direct elimination phase, the 16 teams will be matched up into eight matches in a knock-out stage, with the winners then advancing to the next stage, whilst the losers will be eliminated from the competition.
