An agreement was reached during talks in Hanoi on March 3 between National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung and Indonesian Speaker of People's Consultative Assembly Sidarto Danusubroto.
Chairman Hung said he believes the visit will tighten ties between the two nations and their legislatures in particular, expressing his hope that Indonesia will realise its goal of becoming one of the world's top ten economies by 2025.
Vietnam gives priority to boosting relations with ASEAN member countries, including Indonesia. Considerable progress in their 60 year relationship was marked in June 2013 when the two countries established a strategic partnership, he noted.
Chairman Hung said he hopes both legislative bodies will facilitate the implementation of the Vietnam - Indonesia co-operation for peace, stability and development in the region, bringing ASEAN nations closer on the path of achieving the common Community by 2015.
He also hailed Indonesia's 'Initiative on Six-Point Principle in the East Sea' and suggested realising signed agreements in earnest to ensure peace and security in the waters and mainland for the sake of peace in the region.
The top legislator took the occasion to invite Sidarto Danusubroto to attend the 132nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Hanoi, March 2015.
Sidarto Danusubroto said he is confident that Vietnam will continue to develop successfully, further confirming its position in the region and the world.
The Speaker expressed his interest in furthering connections with the Vietnamese NA, ratifying joint co-operation agreements and in monitoring their implementation.
The East Sea issue, according to him, should be solved by peaceful means and dialogue.
