The meeting was attended by Secretary-General of ASEAN Dato Lim Jock Hoi as well as ministerial leaders in charge of youth affairs and youth cooperation in ASEAN member countries.
Speaking at the conference, Permanent Secretary of the HCYU and President of the Vietnam Youth Federation Central Committee Nguyen Anh Tuan affirmed that the governments of ASEAN member states have always paid attention to the development of the youth over recentyears with the issuance of relevant laws, policies and strategies, creating favourable conditions for them to find employment and grow.
The ASEAN youth development index has improved considerably in recent times regarding criteria on education, health, employment, start-ups and youth participation in social affairs, he added.
Delegates at the conference discussed the direction of youth work development along with opportunities to strengthen youth cooperation in ASEAN in the time to come; and evaluated the results of the implementation of the ASEAN Work Plan on Youth for the 2016-2020 period, as well as commented on the plan for the 2021-2025 period, and the second phase of the survey on the ASEAN youth development index.
They also agreed on the strong promotion of ASEAN youth cooperation which focused on the fields of youth volunteer, start-ups, skill development to meet the requirements of the fourth Industrial Revolution, as well as joining hands to overcome the difficulties and challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
