National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung made the statement while receiving Vice Speaker of the Polish parliament Jerzy Wenderlich in Hanoi on December 18.
Hung noted with satisfaction the fine development of relations between the two countries and two legislative bodies in particular, and said Vietnamese people bear in mind the valuable assistance given by Polish people during the former's process of national construction and defence.
He briefed his guest on the result of the freshly concluded National Assembly session, including the approval of the amended Constitution to promote fundamental human rights and heighten the people's mastery right.
He proposed both sides increase high-level visit exchanges to share experience in legislation to back the transitional period and international integration of each country.
The legislative bodies of the two countries need to oversee their governments implement cooperation agreements, bringing practical benefits to both sides and facilitating their business operations, Hung said.
He expressed hope Poland will continue to support Vietnam in strengthening ties with the European Union and other EU member states.
For his part, Jerzy Wenderlich noted similarities in history and friendly foreign policies will create the prerequisite for Poland and Vietnam to tighten cooperation, especially in trade and investment.
Poland is willing to share experience and support Vietnam in legislation and training of lawmakers, he said.
NA Chairman Hung invited the Polish parliament leader to attend the 132nd Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) to be held in Hanoi in 2015.
