Vietinbank, Binh Dien Long An enter semifinal berth at VTV Binh dien cup

VTV Binh Dien Long An claimed the second semifinal berth following their stunning 3-1 (25-18 25-16 23-25 27-25) win over Thailand Juniors in their last preliminary match.

VTV Binh Dien Long An, strengthened by powerful Tran Thi Thanh Thuy and Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hoa, who played with the Thailand League-winning Bangkok Glass in the recently-concluded season, sank Thai hearts and delighted home crowds with the dramatic 3-1 win. Tran Thi Thanh Thuy led VTV Binh Dien Long An with 21 points including 19 kills. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hoa assisted with 13 attacks and three stuff blocks. Captain Tapaphaipun Chaisri scored a match-high 14 points for Thailand Juniors including 11 kills. Sineenat Phocharoen assisted with 10 points through her powerful spikes. VTV Binh Dien Long An had six points to finish second in Pool A with two wins against one loss, relegating Thailand Juniors to the third place in the pool with only three points from one win against two losses. The hosts will next play the team finishing top of Pool B in the semifinals, while Thailand Juniors will contest the 5th-8th place playoffs. On Thursday, DPR Korea's 4.25 Sport Club take on Fujian of China, while Thong tin Lien Viet Postbank play Vietin Bank in their last Pool B preliminaries matches.
