Viet Nam has conducted 275,000 COVID-19 tests, health official says

The majority of tests have been carried out at centralized quarantine camps, Long said at a meeting between the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control and representatives of the World Health Organization and international organizations in Ha Noi on May 12.

He said Viet Nam will continue measures to thoroughly prevent external sources of transmission and quarantine those entering Viet Nam for 14 days.

The nation will also maintain tracing system to early detect community infections while strengthening healthcare capacity, particularly frontline doctors in COVID-19 treatment at all levels.

Viet Nam has also successfully manufactured medical equipment and supplies, including ventilators to meet the domestic treatment demand, Long added.

Speaking at the meeting, Dr. Kidong Park said he was impressed with fast and effective measures taken by Viet Nam, adding that he would share Viet Nam's experience with the international community.

Many international experts expressed thanks and spoke highly of Viet Nam's active cooperation in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, Park stressed.

Addressing the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, head of the steering committee extended thanks to effective support and cooperation of the World Health Organization Organization, other organizations and experts throughout the COVID-19 fight in Viet Nam.

He affirmed Viet Nam stands ready to share information and initiatives as well as lessons learnt with the international community, especially the developing countries.

As the pandemic remains complicated across the world, Viet Nam will continue pursuing strict entry control in order to achieve the dual goal of containing the pandemic and rebooting the economy.
