Speaking at the event, President of the Russian Academics of Socialist Orientation (RUSO) socialism council, Ivan Nikitchuk, underlined the significance of the October Revolution to socialism, national liberation and global workers' movements, stating that the Soviet Union successfully built the first socialist society in the world which put an end to slavery. The State founded by V.I. Lenin defeated fascism and militarism, thereby saving the human race from a genocide regime.
Le Thi Thanh Ly, First Secretary of the Political Office of the Vietnamese Embassy in Russia, highlighted the historic significance of the October Revolution to Vietnam, saying that Vietnam's road to socialism has been ever bright.
From being under embargo, Vietnam has normalised and established diplomatic ties with 178 countries and leading international organisations, while diversifying its ties with foreign partners in the spirit of being a friendly and trustworthy partner. The country has also actively joined the regional and global cooperation process, she said.
* During the talks held by the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee in Hanoi on October 31, delegates discussed the historical values of the Russia October Revolution to the revolutionary movement globally and in Vietnam, as well as the significance of the October Revolution, the Marxism-Leninism and the Ho Chi Minh Ideology to Vietnam's struggling path to national liberation and socialism.
The meaning of the October Revolution to the political awareness and revolutionary ideals of Vietnamese youth and students in the present era was also under discussion at the event.
* A variety of activities will be held during the upcoming Russian Days in Ho Chi Minh City, as part of the celebrations marking the 100th anniversary of the Russia October Revolution.
Accordingly, a photo exhibition featuring the Vietnam-Russia relationship will be opened along Nguyen Hue and Dong Khoi Streets from November 1 to 10.
Many other cultural activities and artistic performances are also scheduled to be held, including a musical programmed themed "October Song" on the evening of November 4 and a concert introducing songs on Russia and the Russia October Revolution on November 5.
The HCM City Union of Friendship Organisations, in collaboration with the Vietnam-Russia Friendship Association, will hold a get-together in celebration of 100 years of the Russia October Revolution, in addition to a friendship concert themed "Russia - Love and Nostalgia".
Furthermore, a Russian Books Week will be held on the occasion, in Ho Chi Minh City, by the municipal Department of Information and Communications.
