At ar eception for the guests, Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Dinh Van Dien expressed his joy to welcome the UNESCO Director-General and herdelegation.
He said he hoped the visit would help the delegation understand more about Trang An complex heritage values, then pay more attention to the conservation work at heritage sites of Vietnam in general and that of Ninh Binh in particular.
Ms Irina Bokova thanked NinhBinh for its warm welcome."This is the first time I've been to Trang AnComplex. It is an awesome and beautiful landscape", she said.
She spoke highly of Vietnam's effort in conserving tangible and intangible heritage, ensuring sustainable development and safeguarding national and cultural identity.
Also on this occasion, Ms Bokova and her delegation planted trees in Ba iDinh pagoda.
The UNESCO Director-General is on an official visit to Vietnam from August 24-27.
