Tree-planting festival launched in Ninh Binh province

In response to the tree-planting festival, Secretary of the Ninh Binh provincial Party Committee Nguyen Thi Thanh, and Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Tran Hong Quang, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dinh Van Dien, cadres and locals in Ninh Binh city were engaged in planting more than 250 trees along the two sides of Le Thai To road, in Tan Thanh district.

In this event, around 151,000 trees of various kind were planted in all cities, districts, towns, public places, offices, schools and hospitals throughout the province.

In 2020, the province strives to plant around 1,000,000 trees, including fruit trees and around 260 hectares of forest of various kinds in an effort to raise awareness of the role, affects and economic values of forests, as well as the significance of tree planting, afforestation and forest protection to protect the ecological environment and contribute to mitigating natural disasters and responding to climate change.

The Tet tree planting festival is an annual activity initiated by late President Ho Chi Minh in 1959.
