Three gold medals for Vietnam at Malaysian track competition

Excellent performances by Nguyen Thi Phuong and Quach Thi Lan helped Vietnam secure three gold medals at the 2013 Malaysian Open Track and Field Championships in Kuala Lumpur.
Nguyen Thi Phuong snatched two gold medals; in the women's 1,500m race with a time of 4:37, and in the 3,000m steeplechase with an 11:12 pace.
Quach Thi Lan won another gold for the Vietnamese team in the women's 400m hurdles, clocking in with a time of 57.74 seconds.
Vietnam also took silver medals in both the men's and women's 400m dash.
The two-day tournament attracted over 210 athletes from Australia, Singapore, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Brunei, Kuwait, UAE, Japan, Hong Kong (China), Vietnam and the host country, Malaysia.
Three gold and two silver medals at the tournament are considered a good performance for Vietnam as they prepare for the upcoming 27th SEA Games in Myanmar.
