The Thai Princess and her delegation were welcomed by local officials, representatives from the Ministry of Education and Training and the Ninh Binh provincial Department of Education, together with teachers and pupils of the Ninh My primary school.
Ninh My is one of the three Vietnamese schools taking part in the project titled "Enhancing Living Conditions of Asian-Pacific Children and Youth" by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization(UNESCO) Vietnam Committee and the Royal Office of Thai Princess since August, 2006.
The project focuses particularly on nutrition and hygiene factors for pupils, like to grow safe vegetables and build safe water systems and canteens at school.
Currently, the Ninh My primary school has built a modern canteen equipped with standardised kitchen utensils and installed a safe water system.
Besides, the schools taff have raised poutry and grown vegetables inside the school area to serve safe and nutritious meals for their pupils.
In particular, the school has closely coordinated with a local medical center to provide regular free medical check-ups for all of its pupils.
After hearing the Ninh My primary school's report about the project results, theThai Princes sexpressed her pleasure that the project has contributed to improving the health of pupils through nutritious meals and food hygiene.
On this occasion, she also presented gifts to teachers and pupils.
Concluding the visit, theThai Princess and her delegation made a fact finding tour to the Trang An ecological site.
