The plant, covering an area of 23.1ha, was constructed within three years from May 2011 at a cost of over VND1.1 trillion (US$51.7 million), sourced from Korean ODA and local reciprocal capital.
With a capacity of 200 tonnes of waste and 40 tonnes of sludge per day, the factory collects, sorts and treats solid waste to turn garbage into high quality compost, producing 30 to 40 tonnes of microbial fertiliser a day. In addition, the facility owns a 6ha landfill that meets Korean standards.
The largest ODA project in Ninh Binh creates decent jobs for 100 local labourers, contributing to improved sanitary conditions, protecting people's health, and providing microbial fertiliser for local agricultural production.
