The event aimed to promote good practices in effective and sustainable waste management services in the urban areas.
Speaking at the event, Mr Dinh Huu Quy, Secretary of the Ninh Binh municipal Party Committee expressed his concern that Ninh Binh city has met difficulties in effectively dealing with garbage and related issues such as small state budget reserved for collecting garbage;the lack of responsibility towards waste management in the community and the lack of appropriate policies, mechanisms associated with dealing solid waste.
Ninh Binh city wishes to learn more experience from participating countries, he added.
During the seminar, the Deputy General Secretary of the United Nations Commission on Socio-economic in Asia spoke about sustainable finance and replication of waste to resources in Asia; lessons learned from ESCAP's regional program.
Participating delegates discussed numerous issues relating to good practices in managing sustainable finance; and shared experience in waste management models good practices in managing solid waste.
The two-day conference aims to gather the members of DELGOSEA network and representatives from selected local government units in ASEAN and present amongst each other their good practices on solid waste management.
The meeting will also serve as a venue for the members to discuss the future plans and activities of the DELGOSEA network.
As scheduled, the event will include a fact-finding visit and an experience exchange in Ninh Phong ward in Ninh Binh city.
