Kim Son has 18 kilometers of coastline, and is located between river mouths of Day and Can rivers. The rate of sedimentation in Kim Son's alluvial grounds is around 80-100 meters per year.
Since 1959, sea encroachment between Binh Minh 1 and Binh Minh 4 dykes has been carried out four times with a total area of over 5,000 hectares.
Con Noi alluvial ground has an area of around 1,000 hectares. The Ministry of National Defence has invested and built a 5-kilometer dyke to prevent soil erosion, and a road leading to Con Noi alluvial ground with a total length of 5,88 kilometers. The project cost an investment capital of 467 billion VND.
Currently, the Ministry of National Defence is devising a project to build a dyke connecting Con Noi alluvial ground and Binh Minh 4 dyke with total investment capital of 698 billion VND.
Con Mo alluvial ground is three kilometers away from Con Noi alluvial ground. Con Mo observation station has been constructed with a cost of 69 billion VND.
Construction at Con Mo observation station is being sped up.
These projects play an important role in developing the marine economy, preventing and controlling natural disasters, responding to climate change and ensuring national defence.
After examining, Huan spoke highly the efforts of agencies, investors and contractors in overcoming difficulties to carry out these projects.
He also asked related departments, sectors, localities, investors and contractors to build these projects safely, ensure quality and technical conditions, thus striving to complete the construction as planned.
Huan took this occasion to visit and present gifts to officers and soldiers of flotilla 2 under the provincial Border Guard Command and Con Noi border guard station.
