Vietnam has excellently completed its role as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for the 2020-2021 tenure, achieving all set goals for the tenure amidst complicated and unpredictable socio-economic, political, and security developments as well as unprecedented challenges, including the widespread impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, heard a meeting on December 28 reviewing the country's performance during the tenure.

Viet Nam officially won the election to become a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for 2020-2021 after getting 192 votes out of the 193 member countries and territories of the UN General Assembly on June 7 evening (Viet Nam time).
