The Hoa Lu ancient capital was the first capital of the feudal state of Vietnam. It was in Truong Yen Commune, Hoa Lu District, Ninh Binh Province. In 968,Dinh Bo Linh was throned in Hoa Lu, and the Hoa Lu Capital had existed for 41years (968-1009) in which 12 years were under the Dinh dynasty and the next 29 years was under the Le dynasty.
Through ups and downs of history, the Hoa Lu Capital had almost been destroyed. Currently, the complex of Hoa Lu relics has housed around 30 relics, two of which are the King DinhTemple and the King Le Temple.
Two Long Sang (also called the Royal King's bed), placed in front of the King Dinh temple and the King Le temple, were recognized as national treasures in 2017.
The Royal King's bed was made of a single large block of green stone. It features a carved dragon, a symbol of prosperity and longevity, on its surface. It is unique architectural item made in the 17th century as it bears sophisticated decorative patterns, like flowers and pictures of animals.
There are also a great number of temples and pagodas aged thousands of years, contributing to highlighting the architectural works in the past. They would be must-see destinations for visitors inNinh Binh.
