A project, financed by the Republic of Korea (RoK) Government's non-refundable aid, was launched on July 8 to establish a smart farm and increase pig breeding value chain in Ninh Binh province.

The groundbreaking ceremoy was jointly held by the Center for Informatics and Statistics (CIS) under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) and the Korea Agency of Education, Promotion and Information Service in Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (EPIS).
Attending the ceremony were Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Phung Duc Tien, Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Pham Quang Ngoc, and Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Tran Song Tung, among others.
The CIS and the EPIS chose Tam Diep center for pig variety research and development to implement the project.
The project will build a smart pig farm that applies modern technologies in a bid to create the highest quality for pork meeting the demand of the domestic market and export.
Korean experts will transfer advanced techniques in smart pig breeding, disease control, product circulation and data management to cadres and farmers who take part in the project.
Moreover, a system of production, preservation, slaughter and packaging will also be built.
The project will be carried out in three years (2022-2025). Of the project funding, almost 3.1 million USD is sourced from the RoK Government's non-refundable aid and over 326,000 USD comes from Vietnam's corresponding capital.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Tran Song Tung thanked the MARD for accompanying and supporting Ninh Binh in the past years. He also extended his thanks to the RoK Government for choosing Ninh Binh to implement the project.
Tung also expressed his hope that the project would become a model of smart farming with modern slaughter techniques so as other farm owners in and outside the province could learn and apply in the coming time, thereby developing a closed pig breeding industry effectively and sustainably.
