The prime minister is to attend a summit marking the 40th anniversary of ASEAN - Japan Dialogue relations and the 5th Mekong - Japan Summit.
The prime minister's entourage includes Chairman of the Government Office Nguyen Van Nen, Minister of Planning and Investment Bui Quang Vinh, Minister of Industry and Trade Vu Huy Hoang, Minister of Transport Dinh La Thang, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Nguyen Minh Quang and the State Bank of Vietnam Governor Nguyen Van Binh.
Others making the trip include the Prosecutor General of the Supreme People's Procuracy Nguyen Hoa Binh, President of the Vietnam National University in Hanoi Phung Xuan Nha, Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Doan Xuan Hung, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Quang Vinh and Deputy Minister of Agricultural and Rural Development Vu Van Tam.
The visit to Japan aims to strengthen and deepen the strategic partnership between the two nations, focusing on trade, investment, development aid and co-ordination in regional and international forums.
During the official visit, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung will also attend a summit to mark the 40th anniversary of ASEAN - Japan Dialogue relations (1973-2013). Japan provides great support for the building of the ASEAN Community, narrowing the development gap between the regional countries and promoting Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) and East-West Economic Corridor (EWEC) co-operation.
Additionally, the prime minister is scheduled to attend the 5th Mekong - Japan Summit, where Vietnam will continue to make active contributions to enhancing the effectiveness of this relationship into the future.
