The archaeologists unearthed a two-metre-thick layer of sediment including the shells of mountain and stream snails, freshwater and maritime mollusks, and burned pieces of animal bones, showing the use of fire in the cave.
The cave lies on the bank of Na river and belongs to Bai Ngo mountain range. It is about 30 metres above the field's surface.
Experts held that the vestige dates back to 10,000 years ago. The finding provides interesting information about the life of prehistoric people in Ninh Binh.
Previously, archaeologists also unearthed a vestige at But (Buddha) cave in Lac Van commune, dating back to 6,000 years ago.
In a larger space, a series of prehistoric archaeological vestiges dating back from 4,000 to 30,000 years ago were found in Trang An scenic landscape complex and Ky Lan mountain in Gia Phuong commune of Gia Vien district.
