The Vietnam Peace Committee and the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of Ninh Binh province on October 16 jointly held a ceremony to pray for peace in Vietnam and the world and shared information about peace at Bai Dinh padoda.

Uong Chu Luu, former member of the Party Central Committee, former Vice Chairman of the National Assembly and Chairman of the Vietnam Peace Committee; Most Venerable Thich Thanh Nhieu, Standing Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)'s Executive Council; Vice Chairman of the Ninh Binh Provincial People's Committee Tong Quang Thin; and representatives from ministries, agencies and the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations attended the event.
The event was part of the education programme on peace carried out by the Vietnam Peace Committee in an attempt to pray for a peaceful world, prosperous nation, and happy people. It also aims to raise public awareness about the national tradition and spirit of patriotism.
Speaking at the event, Chairman of the Vietnam Peace Committee Uong Chu Luu underscored that throughout over 70 years of operation, the Vietnam Peace Committee has actively mobilised international friends to contribute to the world people's movements to struggle for peace and justice and protest against wars.
Being aware of the important role and necessity of peaceful culture in the new context, the Vietnam Peace Committee built the peace education programme. Since the end of 2021, the committee has organised numerous activities to spread the message of peace, established clubs of peace in some universities, and held ceremonies praying for peace.
The event was hoped to spread the value of peace, thereby building a peaceful, prosperous and strong Vietnam, and a world without war, he said.
At the event, delegates, Buddhist monks, nuns, and followers conducted to pray for peace in Vietnam and in the world.
