The delegation included Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong; former Party General Secretaries Le Kha Phieu and Nong Duc Manh; former President Tran Duc Luong; Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc; Chairwoman of the National Assembly (NA) Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan; former NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung; President of the VFF Central Committee; among others.
They expressed their gratitude to the wounded and fallen soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the struggle for national liberation, independence, freedom and the happiness of the people.
Afterwards, the leaders paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his Mausoleum to commemorate his merits to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation.
On the same day, a delegation of the Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Public Security, Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, and Hanoi paid tribute to the heroic martyrs and President Ho Chi Minh.
Earlier on July 26, Politburo member and NA Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong visited and presented gifts to two Vietnamese heroic mothers: Tran Thi Diep and Mai Thi Con in Cam Chinh and Cam Thuy communes, Cam Lo district; as well as the families of veteran Le Quang Thiet in Ai Tu town, Trieu Phong district, Quang Tri province. She asked the local Party committees, governments and organisations to pay great attention to the families of wounded and fallen soldiers, as well as revolutionary contributors.
On the occasion, the NA Vice Chairwoman offered incense and laid wreaths at the Quang Tri ancient citadel Monument and Truong Son National Martyrs' Cemetery, Road 9 National Martyrs' Cemetery and the Martyrs' Cemetery in Trieu Phong district.
In the afternoon of yesterday, Senior Lieutenant General Luong Cuong, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army visited and presented gifts to former Party chief Le Kha Phieu. He wished the former Party leader good health and longevity and hopes that he will continue to make valuable and practical contributions to the Party's revolutionary cause and military construction.
The Vietnam Women's Union (VWU) Central Committee also held a meeting for outstanding Vietnamese heroic mothers and revolutionary contributors around the country. The event was attended by Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh.
Speaking at the meeting, the Vice President expressed the hope that the VWU will uphold its role and responsibility for the work of care for revolutionary contributors.
