Nguyen Van Lam, who now lives in Yen Phong commune of Yen Mo district, had lived and worked in the southern province of Binh Duong for nearly 20 years. Recently, he decided to quit his job in Binh Duong and returned to his hometown to seek another job.
Mac Thi Nho, who is joining in a job fair, said she had worked in a company in Hoa Lu district, and now she decided to quit the job and seek a new empployment near her home in Gia Vien district.
Nowadays, many local labourers don't have to leave their native land to seek jobs in other provinces and cities, especially after the Tet holiday.
Reality showed that, in recent years, Ninh Binh has created favourable conditions to attract domestic and foreign investors in a bid to create more jobs for local people.
Statistics revealed that Ninh Binh now is home to five operational industrial zones and 11 industrial clusters with hundreds of enterprises. These businesses have provided jobs for hundreds of thousands of local labourers. The quality of workforce has been raised remarkably, thus their average income has been improved too.
The province has fully exploited all resources for socio-economic development. It has given priority to develop industries of its strengths such as agro-forestry-aquatic product processing industry, food and fertilisers.
Developing the small handicraft industry and craft villages in association with tourism and building new-style rural areas such as embroidery in Ninh Hai commune (Hoa Lu district), stone carving in Ninh Van (Hoa Lu district), and sedge making (Kim Son district). These labour-intensive industries have helped attract more labourers from agriculture to non-agriculture fields.
Besides, the Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs has carried out solutions synchronically to connect labourers and jobs, thereby contributing to ensure social welfare.
In 2023, the province has provided jobs for over 20,000 labourers. Over 2,000 of them were sent to work abroad. Labourers in rural and remote areas have been given suitable jobs, thus helping to reduce poverty rate and improve living standard for local people.
Ninh Binh provincial Centre for Employment Services provides job information to local labourers.
Last year, over 7,000 labourers received unemployment insurance, 1,500 of whom had worked in other cities and provinces nationwide. Most of them expressed their wish to work near their homes instead of seeking jobs far from their houses.
La Thanh Tung, Director of the Ninh Binh provincial Centre for Employment Services, said since the beginning of 2024, local firms have offered thousands of job vacancies. Some firms need a large number of labourers such as Adora Footwear Co., Ltd. (Tam Diep city); MCNex Co., Ltd., (Yen Khanhd district); and Athena Footwear Co., Ltd. (Yen Mo district).
The Ninh Binh provincial Centre for Employment Services has enhanced connection with firms and local labourers to collect information related to jobs, then build a database of labour supply and demand, thereby helping to foster the lcoal labour market, Tung added.
