Ninh Binh, Thua Thien-Hue exchange experiences in preserving, restoring heritages

Attending the conference was a working delegation of the Ninh Binh Party Committee led by member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Doan Minh Huan; Standing Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People's Council Mai Van Tuat; Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Pham Quang Ngoc, among others.

Leaders of Thua Thien-Hue province attending the event included member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People's Council Le Truong Luu; Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Phuong, among others.

Speaking at the conference, Secretary of the Ninh Binh provincial Party Committee Doan Minh Huan expressed his wish to learn experiences of Thua Thien-Hue in building a centrally-run city with typical characteristics of a ancient capital heritage city associated with special mechanisms and policies.

Ninh Binh also wanted to learn Thua Thien-Hue's experiences in preserving, restoring and protecting ancient artifacts, tangible and intangible cultural heritages as well as orientations and solutions to develop tourism sustainably, he said.

Chairman of the Thua Thien-Hue provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Phuong briefed participants on the outcomes of building a centrally-run city in association with typical characteristics of ancient capital  heritage urban area with special mechanisms and policies, as well as the restoration, preservation and promotion of the values of Hue ancient capital, and tourism development.

Chairman of the Ninh Binh provincial People's Committee Pham Quang Ngoc reported the province's socio-economic achievements in 2023, and underscored the goals and orientations of Ninh Binh in the coming time.

Accordingly, the province will strive to become a developed province and a growth pole in the Red River Delta by 2030, and basically meet criteria set for a centrally-run city with typical characteristics of a millennium heritage urban area and a creative city; a big centre with a high brand value in terms of tourism, cultural industry and heritage economy of the whole country and in Southeast Asia.

With these orientations, Ninh Binh hoped to share and exchange experiences in making and adjusting a planning scheme on preserving, restoring and upgrading the ancient capital of Hue; land site clearance and compensation for affected households and organisations; mobilisation of resources; establishing and managing the fund for the preservation of Hue heritage, the coordination in the management of religious establishments as well as experiences in developing heritage economy and tourism.

Ninh Binh also suggested cooperation with Thua Thien-Hue to speed up procedures and proposals for authorities to build special mechanisms and policies for ancient capital heritage cities; expand cooperative opportunities and accelerate links between heritage cities of Vietnam with others in the world.

At the conference, delegates  exchanged and clarified contents related to mechanisms and policies on preserving and restoring the ancient capital of Hue; archeological work and development of tourism types that exploit natural resources, history, culture in line with environmental protection in Hue.

They also explored Hue city's ways to speed up urbanisation in association with characteristics of the ancient capital, management of a heritage city and conditions to become a centrally-run city.
