According to the report released by Hoang Thanh Phong, Vice Director of the Department of Tourism, on January 18, Ninh Binh received around 6.5 million visitors in 2016, a year-on-year rise of 7.5%, including over 700,000 foreign visitors, an increase of 19% on year.
It earned a revenue of nearly VND 1.7 trillion (USD 74.7 million), a surge of over 24 percent over that recorded a year earlier.
The outcomes were attributed to the efforts made by the province in developing tourism infrastructure; establishing new tourist products like "Exploring Bai Dinh pagoda at night and Thien Ha cave"; "HanhCung- Vu Lam palace-Tien spring" tour; Thung Nham bird ecology area.
In 2017, Ninh Binh will strive to improve the quality of tourism staff and coordinate with other localities and businesses to develop tourist products in hope of achieving the 6.7 million visitor target, including 730,000 international visitors.
