The national target programme on building new-style rural areas in 2016-2020 has completed its set targets thanks to support from local people and enterprises and has become an emulation movement.
To date, 100 out of 116 communes, three districts and one city in Ninh Binh province have met standards for new-style rural areas. Of which, seven communes have met standards for exemplary new-style rural areas.
The rural economy has developed in the direction of diversifying sectors and increasing the proportion of industry and service.
The "One Commune - One Product" (OCOP) programme during the 2018-2020 period has reaped initial successes with 33 key products in the province were chosen to join the programme. In 2019, 12 products of Ninh Binh were rated, including 10 four-star products and two three-star products. The province is planning to rate 12 other products this year.
The programme on clean water and sanitation for rural areas has been carried out actively, with the rate of rural people getting access to clean water reaching 95.5 percent, up 3.2 percent from 2015.
Ninh Binh will continue to implement the national target programme on building exemplary new-style rural areas, with priority given to extremely disadvantaged and coastal communes to complete all set criteria of building new-style rural areas.
The province will enhance the quality of criteria for building new-style rural areas and exemplary new-style rural areas, focusing on production and improving incomes of local people.
Ninh Binh is striving to accomplish all criteria of the programme and become a new-style rural province by 2023.
