In the first half of 2024, though facing numerous difficulties and challenges, the province's economy has recovered and saw growth. Its GRDP was estimated to reach nearly 26.84 trillion VND (1.11 billion USD), a year-on-year increase of 8.19%, ranking 12th out of 63 provinces and centrally-run cities nationwide and 6th out 11 provinces and centrally-run cities in the Red River Delta.
The industry-construction, agriculture and trade-service sectors also enjoyed high growth. Specifically, industry-construction grew by 10.45%; agriculture rose by 2.75%; trade and services increased by 9.43%.
The province's export turnover hit nearly 1.7 billion USD, a year-on-year rise of 11.8%, and accounting for 52.1% of the yearly plan.
While its import value reached 1.56 billion USD, posting an increase of 14.9% and making up 49% of the yearly plan.
The tourism and service sectors have recovered and developed strongly. In the first six months of 2024, the province served over 6.28 million visitors, posting a rise of 38.5% from the same period of last year and making up 83.8% of the yearly plan.
Total revenue from tourism activities hit nearly 5.94 trillion VND, up 54.2% as compared to the same period last year, and making up 72% of the yearly plan.
In particularly, Ninh Binh has been named among Top 10 Experiences in the World for 2024 by TripAdvisor.
Total retail sales reached nearly 39.5 trillion VND, a year-on-year increase of 26.3%, while consumer price index (CPI) grew by 4.51% as compared to the same period last year.
Total buget collection reached nearly 8 trillion VND, up 6.6% in comparision with previous year and making up 42.8% of the estimate.
Total development investment capital hit nearly 15.3 trillion VND, up 2.6% and equivalent to 46.3% of the yearly plan.
By the end of June, the province's public capital disbursement reached 34.6% of the yearly plan set by the Prime Minister, ranked 27th out of 63 centrally-run cities and provinces nationwide.
It is expected that the province still faces numerous difficulties in the remaining six months of 2024.
However, Ninh Binh has set a target of achieving an economic growth rate of 8% this year.
In order to achieve the set target, the provincial People's Committee has devised out nine key tasks and solutions to spur economic growth.
The province will pay special attention to implementing the provincial planning scheme for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050 with the high determination in a bid to turn itself into a developed province in the Red River Delta by 2030, and basically meet standards of a centrally -run city by 2035 with characteristics of a millennium heritage and creative city.
