Due to complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic, many countries and territories have yet to opened their doors, causing difficulties for exports, especially farm produce and handicraft products.
To create favorable conditions for enterprises to boost their export activities in the new context, since 2020, the Department of Industry andTrade has assisted exporters in developing e-commerce.
The department have helped Doi Moi Co. Ltd., Asia Food JSC and Tam Diep flowers, bonsai trees and farm produce cooperative to build their own websites and develop kiosks on Alibaba e-commerce platform.
The moves have assisted these firms to advertise and sell their products on both domestic and global markets.
Websites and kiosks on the e-commerce platforms provide timely, exact and sufficient information about the firms, enhance their prestige and competitiveness, get access to new customers and expand markets, thus contributing to boost the province's export activities.
The Doi Moi Co. Ltd. is one of the businesses receiving support under the province's e-commerce development plan in the 2021-2025 period.
Doan Lan, Director of the Doi Moi Co. Ltd. said, the company is one of Ninh Binh's leading enterprises in exporting handicraft products to foreign markets. In 2020, it earned 80 billion VND from exports.
However, the company's export activity was halted due to the closure of borders of traditional markets due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
After joining the Alibaba e-commerce platform, the company has seen an increasing number of new clients. In the first six months of 2021, its revenues rose 30 percent and export turnover reached over 35 billion VND, up10 billion VND against the same period last year. The company's export markets have been expanded to six other countries and territories.
E-commerce is really an effective channel for exporting and popularizing products with lower costs. In particular, it is suitable to the current conditions amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Having defined sustainable export as a solution to boost economic growth, helping to realise the "dual goal", the Department of Industry and Trade has actively supported enterprises to sell products on ECVN platform developed by the E-commerce and Digital Economy Agency under the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
This is a digital transformation solution aimed at connecting Vietnamese exporters with foreign importers.
At the same time, the ECVN platform also helps local enterprises to access a more flexible business model with lower costs and resources to overcome difficulties caused by the pandemic.
