The figure included over 1.08 million domestic visitors and more than 157,600 foreign tourists, year-on-year decreases of 67 percent and 30.2 percent, respectively.

The provincial Department of Tourism has asked local travel companies and accommodation establishments to strengthen countermeasures amid the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic.
It has taken a number of measures such as stepping up communication campaigns among residents and tourists, giving free face masks to visitors, and establishing tourist supporting stations to closely monitor the situation and deal with emerging matters.
At the same time, the department ordered the temporary closing of all destinations across the province and postponement of all festivals and activities with the attendance of crowds from the beginning of March 2020.
It also asked local hotels and resorts to ensure hygiene and monitor visitors by checking their body temperature, reminding them to restrict travelling, serving food at their rooms and maintaining a distance of two meters while talking with each other.
Besides, the department cooperated with the Ninh Binh Association of Tourism to hold a meeting to assess losses caused by COVID-19 and discuss measures to stimulate tourism after the pandemic is stamped out.
