In particular, besides the peak season in the first month of the year, Ninh Binh has received a large number of visitors during summer that was previously seen as a low season of the local tourism sector. This proved that Ninh Binh's tourism sector has been on the right track in promoting and advertising tourism potential, thus contributing to the province's growth in the first six months of 2023.
Impressive figures
On the scorching summer days, some popular destinations in the province such as Trang An ecological tourism site, Mua cave, Thung Nham ecological tourism valley welcomed large numbers of tourists.
Do Thi Thu Ly, Vice Director of the Mua Cave tourist site, said these days, the site received around 600-700 guests a day, and over 1,000 visitors at weekends.
"We have focused on improving the landscape with green trees, colorful flowers, and increasing the quality of services to meet the demand of tourists", she said.
In particular, the gorgeous lotus pond in the middle of mountains has attracted a crowds of tourists to enjoy and take photos.
Doan Minh Thanh, Vice Director of Hoang Son Hotel, said the hotel has 214 rooms. In the first six months of 2023, the room occupancy rate hit 43%. Moreover, the hotel also has large halls to serve big events, meetings, and wedding parties.
These numbers have reflected the bright picture of hundreds of local accommodation establishments, restaurants and destinations in the past time.
According to the provincial Department of Tourism, in May and June - the low season of local tourism - Ninh Binh still served 400,000 tourists a month.
The results are attributed to Ninh Binh's well preparations in terms of infrastructure, landscapes, labour forces and social security and safety.
During the January-June period, Ninh Binh received 4.53 million visitors, a 2.5-fold rise against the same period last year. Of them, 224,000 are foreign visitors.
The tourism sector earned over 3.84 trillion VND, a 2.9-fold rise and making up 74.7% of the yearly plan.
Popular destinations such as Trang An ecological tourism site, Bai Dinh pagoda, Tam Coc - Bich Dong, Thung Nham bird sanctuary, Mua cave, Hoa Lu old quarter have attracted huge numbers of domestic and foreign visitors, thereby helping to create a brand name for Ninh Binh tourism.
In recent years, the Ninh Binh Tourism Week entitled "Yellow colours of Tam Coc - Trang An" has been held annually in a bid to draw visitors in the low season. Over 172,000 visitors flocked to Ninh Binh during this year's event, a two-fold increase as compared to the same period of 2022.
Maintaining growth momentum
Bui Van Manh, Director of the Department of Tourism, stressed that the impressive figures in the number of tourists and revenue have proved that Ninh Binh's tourism sector has been on the right track.
In the current context, the department has devised numerous plans and scenarios to fulfill assigned tasks. Of which, the province sets a target of welcoming over 5.35 million visitors and earning 5.1 trillion VND in 2023.
To fulfill the goals, the sector focuses on some key tasks, such as inspecting food hygiene and environmental conditions, civilized tourism practices and infrastructure at tourist sites; building plans to promote tourism and applying digital technology in tourism promotion.
It has also cooperated with units and localities to provide training courses for labourers at tourist sites; and improve awareness of environmental and landscape protection, preserving and promoting the heritage values among local people and tourists.
The tourism sector has continued to diversify tourism products, pay heed to developing nighttime activities for tourists; building plans on developing tourism in a green and sustainable manner; and developing infrastructure serving tourism.
At the same time, it will enhance state management and create a favourable environment for tourism development, he added.
