Accordingly, in 2023, the province's socio-economic situation has reaped positive and comprehensive outcomes. The province has fulfilled and surpassed 12 out of 15 set major targets. But Ninh Binh is likely not to accomplish three targets, including GRPD growth, state budget collection and export turnover.
The province's gross regional domestic production (GRDP) is estimated to reach 53.39 trillion VND (2.2 billion USD), representing a year-on-year rise of 7.27%.
Of which, the agro-forestry-fishery sector is forecast to expand by 2.86% while the industry-construction sector is likely increase by 2.95% and the service sector is estimated to grow by 13.23%. The per capita GRPD is estimated at 88.03 million VND.
Ninh Binh's economic structure has shifted to the direction of reducing the ratio of agro-forestry-fishery (10.2%) while increasing the ratio of services (47.1%) and industry-construction (42.7%).
By the end of November, the rate of public capital investment disbursement reached 71.9% and 75.2% of the yearly plans set by the Prime Minister and the provincial People's Council, respectively.
The building of new-style rural areas has reaped positive outcomes. In 2023, Kim Son district was recognised as a new-style rural area; 20 communes were recognised as advanced new-style rural areas and four communes met criteria of model new-style rural areas.
The service sector saw strong growth, especially tourism which has fostered the development of other economic sectors.
So far this year, the province has welcomed over 6.5 million tourist arrivals, a year-on-year rise of 76.4%, surpassing the yearly plan by 22.5%. The tourism sector earned nearly 6.38 trillion VND, a two-fold rise against the figure last year.
Meanwhile, export-import activities have met numerous difficulties as demands in markets, especially big and traditional markets, have reduced.
The province's export turnover fell by 1.7% from last year's figure while itsimport value was down 11% year on year.
Ninh Binh's total budget collection was 16.44 trillion VND (699 million USD), equivalent to 73.4% of the estimate.
Socio-cultural affairs have seen progress. Social welfare has been ensured while the spiritual and material lives of local people have been improved. The poverty rate reduced to 2.01%.
In 2023, Ninh Binh hosted numerous political, cultural and tourism events at the national and international scales.
In 2024, Ninh Binh will strive to achieve GRDP growth of 7.6%, fulfill state budget collection at the highest level; save budget spending and use investment resources effectively.
