When it was re-established in 1992, Ninh Binh was an agriculture-based province. Infrastructure in rural areas remained poor and was not invested while living standards of local residents were low with per capita income of only 840,000 VND per year.
Thanks to right mechanisms and policies of party committees and administrations at all levels and as well as efforts of local people from all walks of life, especially since the implementation of the national target programme on building new-style rural areas, Ninh Binh's rural areas has changed dramatically towards a modern and civilized direction.
Notably, socio-economic infrastructure in rural areas has been invested synchronically and the spiritual and material lives of local people have been improved while the per capita income now reaches 71.5 million VND per year, a 85-fold increase from the figure in 1992.
By the end of 2021, Ninh Binh had 117 out of its 119 communes meeting the criteria of new-style rural areas.
Of them, 11 communes were recognised as model rural areas and 17 communes got the status of advanced new-style rural areas.
To date, four districts, namely Hoa Lu, Gia Vien, Yen Khanh, and Yen Mo have reached the standards of new-style rura areas while Tam Diep city has completed the task of building new-style countryside. Ninh Binh is striving to become a new-style rural province by 2024.
Ninh Binh's rural areas have been changing day by day and become worth-living countrysides.
It is believed that with the sound orientations and policies of party committees and administrations at all levels, togather with the will, aspirations and determination of local residents, Ninh Binh's rural areas will reap more achievements and changes in the coming time.
