Ninh Binh's poverty rate falls to 1.65 percent

This year, although Ninh Binh has focused human resources and funds on COVID-19 prevention and control, it has  still carried out promptly and adequately support policies for the poor in line with the State and province's regulations.

According to Plan No. 68/KH-UBND on reducing poverty sustainably in 2021 issued by the provincial People's Committee on May 17, 2021, the province set a target of cutting the poverty rate to 1.5 percent and the rate of near poor households to 2 percent by the end of the year.

Currently, localities in the province are reviewing the number of poor households basing on both old and new criteria.

Under the old criteria, Ninh Binh's rate of poor households has fallen to 1.65 percent while its proportion of near poor households has dropped to 2.45 percent. These results basically met the set target.

Meanwhile, under the new criteria applying for the 2022 - 2025 period, there are 7,912 poor households and 10,519 near poor families in the province, accounting for 2.52 percent and 3.35 percent, respectively.
