The Ninh Binh Provincial People's Committee on June 4 held a meeting with foreign direct investment (FDI enterprises in an effort to promptly remove difficulties for the business community, and create favourable conditions for them, thus achieving the goal of "accompanying, sharing, and cooperating for development".
Ninh Binh's leaders meet with FDI enterprises
Top provincial leaders and representatives of some relevant departments, sectors and agencies and 25 FDI firms operating in the province attended the meeting.
Since Ninh Binh welcomed the first foreign investor in 2000, the province has now accommodated 87 FDI projects with total registered capital investment of more than 1.56 billion USD.
Most of the projects focus on the fields of automobile industry, electronics, footwear, garment and cosmetics.
In 2021, the production value of the FDI projects accounted for over 30 percent that of the whole province. The performances of the FDI projects have contributed to the province's socio-economic development, thus expanding the scale of the provincial economy.
Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Pham Quang Ngoc stressed that the meeting aimed to honour the FDI enterprises' contributions to the province's development; popularise the province's policies and orientations for investment attraction and socio-economic development; listen to their aspirations and promptly remove difficulties for them.
Ngoc also figured out some limitations and shortcomings in the province's investment attraction and management in the past years.
Ninh Binh has defined industry as a driving force and a foundation for rapid and sustainable socio-economic development, he said, adding that the province has gradually developed tourism as a spearhead economic sector, and striving to turn itself into a major tourism centre of the province and the region.
Therefore, the province has given priority to attracting strategic investors in green, hi-tech, clean and environmentally-friendly projects with high values; service and trade projects associated with ecological and resort tourism; and clean and organic agriculture projects.
Representatives of FDI firms speaks out their difficulties.
With these orientations, Ninh Binh authorities hoped that FDI enterprises would continue keeping close contact, sharing with and accompanying the local administration to implement effectively the Party and State's policies and laws.
FDI firms need to regularly report their difficulties to the local authorities, Ngoc said, adding that the provincial People's Committee would hold regular dialogues with local businesses on the last Thursday of every month to listen to their opinions and deal with their proposals and recommendations.
Ninh Binh authorities pledged to accompany firms, improve the investment and business climate, and effectively implement the policy of shifting from "management" to "serving" and putting enterprises and people at the centre, he said.
At the meeting, representatives of FDI enterprises, departments, sectors and agencies exchanged and clarified difficulties related to granting certificates of land use rights; land lease procedures to exploit materials for cement production; expanding investment and business in the province; power supply in industrial parks and clusters; and the province's policy to support enterprises in training and employing highly skilled workers.
Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Nguyen Thi Thu Ha thanked the FDI enterprises for their contributions to Ninh Binh's development and asked administrations at all levels and sectors to accompany the firms to address their hurdles.
