Son and his entourage checked the storage and supply of food and commodities at Nam Oanh rice mill in Khanh Mau commune, Yen Khanh district; GO supermarket in Ninh Phuc commune, Ninh Binh city; and Anh Duc Trade and Construction Co. Ltd., in Ninh Son ward, Ninh Binh city.
At these establishments, the storage of food and essential goods like rice, noodles, cooking oil, processed food are abundant with large quantities, meeting the demand of local consumers in 2-3 months in case of COVID-19 outbreaks.
Distributors, producers, retailers and wholesalers assured that they have been updated information about the circulation of goods and prices. They also committed to sell commodities at listed price and ensure there are no shortages of goods.
They have also strictly implemented COVID-19 prevention and control measures.
Son asked these distributors, producers, retailers and wholesalers to expand their storage capacity and devise plans for the worst scenarios such as an disruption of goods supply from producers and distributors. Therefore, they must seek alternative supply sources in a bid to stabilise the market, and increase the consumption of agricultural products for localities.
Distributors, producers and retailers must supply adequate commodities for local consumers; avoid increasing prices and hoarding if there are COVID-19 outbreaks; and build plans for supplying goods in different levels of pandemic outbreaks, he said.
At the same time, these establishments must strictly implement COVID-19 prevention and control measures under the direction of the Ministry of Health and provincial authorities, the official said.
The Vice Chairman requested these firms to enhance the distribution of commodities via e-commerce platforms and increase online payments to prevent the spread of coronavirus SARS-CoV-2.
The Department of Industry and Trade needs to continue cooperating with competent agencies to closely monitor the market's developments in order to have suitable solutions to stabilise the market; while working with big distributors to ensure sufficient supply of commodities when needed, Son added.
