In 1992, the province's industrial production was at nearly 50 billion VND (2.1 million USD) and the figure rose 100 trillion VND (4.3 billion USD) in 2021, representing a 2,000-fold increase.
The average growth in the period of 1992-2021 was at 28.2 percent per year.
These figures showed the impressive development of the industrial sector in the process of modernisation and industrialisation.
The structure of the industrial production sector has shifted from heavy industry into hi-tech and clean industries like automobile manufacturing and assembly, eletronics and supporting industry. This is seen as a sustainable development trend, thus creating momentum for the province's economic growth and increases revenue to the state budget.
The robust growth of the industrial sector has made contributions to the province's stable economic growth in the past years, provided jobs for local labourers and improved the living standards for people.
Over 70,000 labourers have worked in plants, factories and workshops with stable monthly wages ranging from 5 - 9 million VND per capita.
In the coming years, the country will continue to integrate deeply and widely in the international market, thus creating both opportunities and challenges to the province's industry.
In order to maintain its stable and sustainable development, Ninh Binh has paid heed to finalising orientations for industrial, handicraft, and commercial development in the period of 2021-2030; and plans on developing industrial clusters to 2030 with a vision to 2050. These will be foundations for Ninh Binh to step up investment attraction and increase the industry's portion in its economy.
