In 2022, localities have shifted from extensive farming and semi-intensive farming models to intensive and super-intensive farming with high yield.
In particular, the area of shrimp breeding ponds covered with plastic sheets and anti-sunlight nets, and shrimp breeding in the winter has been expanded to 64.5 hectares, thus helping to increase the sector's output and value.
Numerous models of aquaculture towards good agricultural and organic practices have been built. Therefore, the fresh and brackish aquatic product output rose dramatically. The province's total aquatic product output was estimated to reach 67,200 tonnes, a year-on-year increase of 6.3%, and 2.7% higher than the yearly plan.
The production of mollusks has developed strongly thanks to the expansion of markets, increasingly perfected process and improved skills of local farmers. The clam farming area in Kim Son district received the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) certificate, meeting the criteria for export.
In 2023, the province's fishery sector will strive to reach a growth rate of at least 4.5%. It will pay more heed to improving the quality of aquatic products in a bid to increase the valuetowards export.
