Ninh Binh's fishery production value up 5.2% in 2023

Of the volume, the catch output reached 6,700 tonnes while the aquaculture output hit 63,200 tonnes.The total value of fishery production was nearly 2.23 trillion VND, up 5.2% as compared to the previous year.

 Ninh Binh continued to affirm its position as one of the leading localitiesnationwide in producing breeding oysters and clams with 99,208 million oysters and 16,000 million clams.

 In particular, clam farms in Kim Son district were granted a label certificate by the National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam, helping to increase the value of local clam products.

 The province's shrimp farming area has increased sharply, reaching nearly 100 hectares. The value of these shrimp farms has seen 5-10-fold rises as compared to traditional extensive farming.

 In 2024, the fishery sector expects to increase aquatic product output to70,800 tonnes and with total value ofsome 2.33 trillion VND.

 The sector will pay due attention to applying hi-technologies and advanced and circular production methods.

 It will combine production withprocessing, consumption and development of aquatic products under the OCOP programme.

 Measures will be rolled out to protectaquatic product resources and the habitat for aquatic species.
