Ninh Binh's farmers change mindset in developing agriculture economy
Developing hi-tech agriculture
Since 2022, Yen Mo district has carried out a resolution on developing agricultural goods in the direction of organic farming and using high technologies.
Accordingly, Yen Mo has provided financial assistance for farmers and households to build net houses using Israeli watering technology in planting melons and vegetables in the communes of Yen Phong, Yen Tu and Mai Son. To date, these smart agricultural models have reaped positive outcomes.
Several concentrated fruit and vegetable planting areas have been formed in the communes of Yen Phong, Yen Lam, Yen Thai and Yen Mac.
In the district, 14 agricultural cooperatives have coordinated and linked with eight firms in and outside the province to produce and sell farm products. There are 11 households which built net houses to plant high value vegetables and fruits with an estimated turnover of around 4.5 billion VND per hectare per year, representing a 20-25-fold rise as compared to traditional farming method.
Other localities in the province have enjoyed progress in developing hi-tech agriculture, thereby bringing more incomes to local farmers.
Developing agriculture in association with tourism services
With the advantage of the natural landscape, Ninh Binh has been developing agriculture in association with eco-tourism.
An agriculture model of planting herbal trees in association with tourism services of Hoang Son Cooperative in Ninh Tien commune of Ninh Binh city has earned high economic value from selling agricultural products and providing services for tourists to check in and take photos.
The planting of Japanese lotus in service of tourism in Hoa Lu district.
The planting of Japanese lotus in service of tourism has been developed in Ninh Hai, Ninh Xuan, Ninh Thang and Truong Yen communes in Hoa Lu district.
Currently, dozens of farm tours in the province have attracted domestic and international visitors, namely farm tour in Thien Ha cave (Nho Quan district), rice planting and fish catching in Tam Coc, Mua cave (Hoa Lu district) and visiting pineapple farm (Tam Diep city).
These outcomes are attributed to the favourable policies issued by Ninh Binh. These policies have provided momentum for agricultural development in the direction of producing commercial goods and using high technologies.
According to statistics released by the Ninh Binh provincial People's Committee, the production value of the agriculture sector has witnessed consecutive growth, reaching nearly 150 million VND per hectare.
The above outcomes are attributed to the development of agricultural models and projects. These cultivation models and projects have been built and applied in many localities across the province.
In the coming time, the province will continue to multiplying effective farming models and replacing ineffective models in a bid to increase the effectiveness of land use, improve the livelihoods for local farmers, thereby contributing to build eco agriculture, modern rural areas and civilised farmers.
