The meeting was attended by Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Nguyen Thi Thanh, who is also alternative member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and head of the province's National Assembly Deputies Delegation and Chairman of the People's Committee Dinh Van Dien, among others.
In the past six months, the province's gross domestic products (GDP) leaped 8.3 percent, it was reported.
The economic structure saw higher contributions by services with 42 percent and industry - construction with 44 percent, while agro - fishery - forestry made up only 13 percent. Industrial production value reached over 16 trillion VND (73 million USD), an increase of 28 percent compared to the same period last year, participants heard.
Total investment capital rose to 9.5 trillion VND (35 million USD) while budget revenue totalled 1.6 trillion VND (7.3 million USD), up 44 percent against last year's corresponding time.
The province made an import-export value of 490 million USD, which accounted for 60 percent of the yearly plan.
The tourism sector recorded more than 4.3 million tourist arrivals in the reviewed period, a rise of 32 percent compared to the same period last year.
Education, healthcare, cultural affairs, sports and tourism have been given due attention and security - defence maintained.
Looking forward, Secretary Thanh asked sectors, branches, and localities to focus on organizing Party congresses successfully, facilitating key projects like Dinh Tien Hoang Square and a safari park, and examining and approving the planning of the Kenh Ga hot spring-Van Trinh cave tourism site and the master plan of Ninh Binh urban.
Designing the socio-economic development plan for 2016 and the five-year 2016 - 2020 socio-economic development plan needs to follow the provincial Party Committee's Resolution,she said.
In his closing speech, Chairman Dien spoke highly of what the province has achieved in the first half and pointed out the work needed to do in the remaining months.
He asked authorities at all levels and industries to continue building new style rural areas; promptly easing difficulties faced by enterprises in production, business and market expansion; accelerating factory construction, and calling for more investment in green technology.
It is necessary to enhance advertisement and improve the service quality of the tourism sector,he said, asking for accelerating efforts to develop a plan on preserving the natural and cultural world heritage of Trang An as recommended by UNESCO.
He asked participants to identify shortcomings emerged from the first-half socio-economic performance and come up with measures and solutions to realizing the tasks set for the rest of the year.
