Implementing Resolution No. 05/NQ-TU dated October 24, 2016 on agricultural development towards commercial production, applying hi-technologies and modern, sustainable models in the 2016-2020 period with orientations to 2030 and a project on restructuring the agriculture sector in combination with building new-style rural areas, Ninh Binh's agriculture sector posted a growth rate of 2.3 percent in 2019.
Pham Dang Nam, vice director of the center, said over the past years, the province's agriculture sector has applied technologies such as greenhouses, net houses and drip irrigation in production in order to increase its productivity and quality of products.
The application of high technologies in production encourages the establishment of diverse agricultural models such as clean rice cultivation, organic pig farming, shrimp breeding in net houses, safe vegetable production in line with VietGap standards.
To date, the province has had 270 models and projects applying high technologies, which have received financial aid worth 97.9 billion VND in total. Many of them have earned big profits.
Over the past five years, localities in the province have converted about 6,000 hectares of ineffecient rice land to aquaculture, vegetable and fruit plantation land, earning income of between 300 million VND and 1 billion VND per hectare, ten times higher than the income from rice cultivation.
According to Nam, in the years to come, the province aims to increase the proportion of value from high-tech agricultural production to over 10 percent of the total value of agricultural production.
To achieve the goal, it is necessary for Ninh Binh province to attract more investors and establish businesses that apply high technologies in agricultural production, he added.
