In February alone, the province's export revenue hit 156 million USD, up 34.1 percent from the same month last year.
Key export staples witnessed high growth such as canned pineapple and cucumber (up 23.4 percent); plastic bags (39.9 percent); sedge products (2.2-fold rise), windscreen wipers (2.1-fold increase); aluminum ingot (40.2 percent) and toys (47.3 percent).
However, some products like garments, embroidery products and gloves saw declines in export earnings.
To boost exports amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the provincial Department of Industry and Trade has taken a number of measures to support local importers and exporters. It has regularly updated them on import-export and transport of goods through border gates in northern Quang Ninh province.
The department has backed local businesses by increasing trade promotion programmes, seeking new markets and stepping up industrial expansion.
At the same time, it has also helped firms to update e-files and related documents on the website eCoSys and grant C/O to exporters in Ninh Binh and its neighbouring provinces.
